Our U-groove plastic-coated bearing pulley wheels are designed to guide round rails, cords, cables, ropes and tubular tracks in compact sliding and mechanical systems. The U-shaped running surface helps keep the guided component centred while the integrated ball bearing supports stable rotation with lower rolling resistance.

This product series combines a deep groove ball bearing with an injection-moulded plastic outer wheel. The bearing provides the rotating core, while the plastic running surface reduces direct metal-to-metal contact with the track or cable. This structure can help control operating noise, protect the contact surface and reduce wear in applications that require repeated movement.

A suitable U-groove pulley cannot be selected by wheel diameter alone. The groove radius, groove width and groove depth must correspond to the diameter and movement of the rail, cord or cable. A groove that is too narrow can create excessive contact pressure or restrict movement. A groove that is too wide may provide insufficient lateral guidance and allow the guided component to move from side to side.

Can the colour be customised?

Yes. Colour can be adjusted according to a supplied sample or reference code. Minimum quantities may apply because the plastic compound and production batch must be prepared separately.

Can you change the groove without making a new mould?

Minor changes may be possible through secondary machining if the moulded wheel has enough material. Larger changes to the groove radius, wheel width or overall structure normally require new tooling.We review the drawing before deciding which process is appropriate.

Should I choose ZZ or 2RS bearings?

ZZ bearings use metal shields and are suitable for many clean, relatively dry applications. A 2RS bearing uses rubber seals and provides better protection against dust and moisture.
The seal can create slightly different rotational resistance, so the operating conditions should be considered.

Can I send you an existing wheel instead of a drawing?

Yes. We can measure the sample and compare it with our available products. Please also provide information about the application, load and any problems with the current part.
Material composition cannot always be confirmed from appearance alone. Material testing can be arranged when identification is necessary.

How should I start a custom project?

Send us the drawing, existing sample or basic installation dimensions. We will first check our existing sizes and then advise whether a standard model, secondary machining or a new mould is the appropriate route.

Groove Machining to Match Cable

When an existing mould already meets the required bore, outer diameter and overall width, we can use secondary machining to adjust the groove width and depth.

The final profile is produced according to the diameter of the cord, coated cable or round rail. This approach can provide a closer contact fit without developing a completely new mould.

Machining feasibility depends on the original wheel dimensions, remaining wall thickness and selected plastic. If the required profile exceeds the available machining allowance, we will recommend a new mould instead.

How to Choose

  1. 1

    Match the Groove to the Cord or Rail

    The groove radius should correspond to the diameter of the cord, cable or round rail.

    A narrow groove can restrict movement and concentrate pressure on the contact surface. A groove that is too wide may allow excessive lateral movement. The guided component should sit securely in the curved surface without reaching the bottom under excessive pressure.

    Please provide the contact diameter or a cross-sectional drawing when the fit is critical.

    Confirm the Installation Space

    Check the maximum available wheel diameter and overall width inside the housing or bracket. Allow enough clearance for free rotation and normal production tolerances.

    The required dimensions normally include:

    * Bearing bore* Wheel outer diameter* Overall width* Groove width* Groove depth* Groove radius

    Dimensions should be written as bore × outer diameter × width. For example, 6 × 24 × 9 mm represents a 6 mm bore, 24 mm outer diameter and 9 mm overall width.

    Calculate the Load per Wheel

    Provide the total working load and the number of wheels used in the assembly. Load direction, mounting position, impact and starting frequency can affect the actual force applied to each bearing.

    For equipment with frequent movement or variable loads, a test under the real installation conditions is more reliable than selecting a model from static load data alone.

    Check Speed and Duty Cycle

    Occasional manual movement and continuous mechanical operation place different demands on the wheel.

    For high-frequency applications, we evaluate:

    * Rotational speed* Travel distance per cycle* Number of cycles* Starting and stopping frequency* Possible side loading* Required service life

    These details help us select the bearing clearance, seal and outer material.

    Select Materials for the Environment

    POM is suitable for many applications that require dimensional stability and a consistent running surface. PA6 or PA66 may be considered where impact resistance or a different balance of mechanical properties is needed.

    For damp, dusty or outdoor conditions, the bearing material and sealing structure also require attention. Stainless steel provides better corrosion resistance, while rubber seals provide additional protection against moisture and contamination.

    If some information is unavailable, photos of the existing assembly and the main dimensions can help us identify a close model for initial testing.
